Step by Step assists women who are, have been, or are at risk of being incarcerated to rebuild their lives and the lives of their families through strength-based programming. We are a non profit 501(c)3 organization established to work with women in prison as well as women at risk of incarceration. |

On this site you will read the stories of women who have benefited from Step by Step programming. We know that the road for each woman in our programs is long and hard and involves many setbacks. But we believe that we plant seeds and that those seed will eventually sprout and grow. These women witness to this truth with their stories. |

About Step by Step Programming Step by Step has developed and offers several workshops with various themes: self esteem, survival, relationships, and following our dreams. The heart of Step by Step’s programming is a highly-structured eight-week workshop focusing on the life stories of women and the gifts and strengths that can be discovered and claimed in their stories. We use storytelling as the main vehicle for our programs, and we draw from the strengths-based social work model advanced by Dennis Saleebey. Step by Step of Rochester conducts programs at Monroe County and Albion State Correctional Facilities for many years serving over 4000 women. |
